W.B. Stauffer was from both Lecompton and from Colorado. He was a pharmacist during the war. He contracted the Spanish influenza like so many others during the war and survived. The photo is a recent donation from Gary Stauffer. The campaign hat shown in the photo can be seen at the museum during the exhibit, on temporary loan for the exhibit by the Dennis and Mary Stauffer family.
World War One Exhibit
2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the United States entry into World War One.
Approximately two hundred men and women from Lecompton, Big Springs, Stull and Kanwaka served in World War One. Come see the special exhibit at the Territorial Capital Museum commemorating our hometown WWI participants!
